About Me
How did you get started?
|
Well there is a good reason I am usually behind a camera and not in front of it - I take good photos of other people but not myself! I could say I'm a beautiful redhead, but I'd be hallucinating, well except for the red-haired part anyway.
I got into photography by public demand. Although I have always loved taking photos, I turned professional in 2002 when my partner and I took up polo and hunting as sports. When other riders started seeing my photos they asked me to take some shots of them and said they'd pay me! Getting paid for something you love doing and are passionate about is the best way to earn a living.

How did you go from personal to corporate photography?

Then the riders started asking me to take photos for their businesses/companies and equestrian photography grew into corporate photography and now includes: various sports, all types of events, red carpet do's, vineyards, accommodation, food, travel destinations, social shots and even pet portraits. And no, I don't do weddings!
My dilemma is that when I'm photographing (especially equestrian sports) it makes me want to grab one of our horses and join in; yet when I'm aboard I often think ‘oh that would be a good shot I wish I had my camera to hand'!
|
So as you can see by the photos on this page, I am on a horse as much as I photograph them and I think this helps me to anticipate special moments and catch them on camera.
We also have many animals of our own (14 horses, two Hungarian Vizsla's, alpacas, a resident fox, wombats and echidnas) so photographing other people's pets was a natural progression.
Why photography?
I also love photography because it allows me to meet so many people in so many different places and circumstances and create memories for them and myself that will last a lifetime. When I see a client with a smile on their face from a photo I've taken - I'm happy.
Past and Future?
Been there done that? Photographed Harrison Ford, Calista Flockhart and Viggo Mortensen. Still to do: have a photo I've taken on the cover of Polo Times, photograph the Argentine Open and Badminton Horse Trials.
What else?
I am also a double qualified human resources consultant who specialises in occupational health and safety - I know it's a bit ironic seeing the horse sports I do aren't exactly non- hazardous to my health, but you only live once!
